Paws and Pathways: Exploring Columbus with Your Best Friend

Taking the Lead • May 1, 2026

Columbus is more than just a capital city; it’s a haven for tail-waggers and their humans! Whether your pup is an urban adventurer or a woodland wanderer, there is a trail (and a pack) waiting for you.

At our Alumni Social pack walks, we believe that life is better when we’re exploring together. We’re constantly out and about in these incredible local spots, and we want to share our favorite "paws-approved" destinations with you!

πŸ“ Scioto Audubon Metro Park

Located right on the edge of downtown, this is a pack-walk favorite for a reason. Not only do you get a stunning view of the Columbus skyline, but the 2.5-acre dog park features separate areas for large and small dogs, complete with agility equipment and even some artificial turf for those rainy days. It’s the perfect blend of city vibes and green space.

πŸ“ Antrim Park

If your dog loves a scenic loop, Antrim is the place to be. The 1.2-mile trail around the lake is almost entirely shaded, making it a lifesaver during those humid Ohio summers. Just keep in mind: dogs must stay on-leash here, making it a great spot for pups who are still working on their focus amidst distractions like joggers and cyclists.

πŸ“ Schiller Park

Nestled in the heart of historic German Village, Schiller Park feels like a storybook setting. The brick-lined paths and beautifully manicured gardens offer a more leisurely pace. It’s a wonderful spot for a weekend stroll, followed by a pup-cup at one of the many dog-friendly patios nearby!

πŸ“ Quarry Trails Metro Park

As one of the newest additions to the Metro Parks system, Quarry Trails is a total game-changer. It’s rugged, unique, and features a 25-foot waterfall that makes for the perfect "good boy" photo op. With its lakes and limestone cliffs, it feels like a mini-vacation without ever leaving the city.

More Spots We Love:

  • Alum Creek State Park: If your dog is a "water baby," the dog park here actually includes a fenced-in swimming area!
  • Highbanks Metro Park: Perfect for the hiker at heart, offering winding trails through deep ravines.

Join the Pack!

We don’t just talk about these trails—we hike them! We are always holding our Alumni Pack Walks in these areas to help our graduates maintain their social skills and keep those tails wagging. There’s nothing quite like the sight of a dozen happy dogs navigating the Columbus landscape together.
